There is a new election season upon us. There has been one declared candidate to date in the Illinois 14th Congressional District for Congress, the previous winner of the last Democratic primary who then went on to lose against the present incumbent in the district.
I'm declaring again my intention of running in the Primary happening this upcoming March 18th, 2014. As with my previous attempts, any and all help will be appreciated (money can be directed to the various local political entities within the 14th, see links below), my campaign will again accept no contributions.
Looking for 100 people to fill out this form and get it back to me by the end of November of this year: 2014 Primary Petition.
First and foremost, I am looking for people to help collect signatures for a petition to get on the ballot of the upcoming Democratic election for the 14th District of Illinois for Congress, understand that before you continue.
Things to look for in a candidate: honesty :: integrity :: conviction ~ and/or ~ fealty to party dogma/leadership :: Believing the same thing Wednesday that I believed on Monday, no matter what happened Tuesday (and understanding if whether what happened on Tuesday matters to change a core belief - it's more of a matter that what you thought on Monday was correct in the first place or could stand the test of a Tuesday factual challenge) :: doing what's right as opposed to popular - polls change frequently, changing the reason for a placement on any particular position, less so.
You need to be honest in your public and private affairs, I could find a rational basis to transfer publically raised money to privately appreciated income, I like too many others, am on effectively a paycheck to paycheck sustenance - I could no more afford a maximum contribution, to any candidate for any office, as many others all over this Distract, in this State, in this Country could afford to do so. For that I will vow to not ever take a dime, from any one, for any reason. I understand how this will affect my candidacy. I will never plead no contest to converting campaign funds to personal use, you will never find cold hard cash getting frost burn in my freezer. I am a professional citizen, not a for-profit politician, please understand the difference. I am by definition a Liberal. I was born in 1968, this forty-odd-year span of time equates with the present day Democratic Party, and also too, therefore narrows down that even more to be a member of what is now the Progressive Caucus (would hope be the first Caucasian be least be an auditing member of the Congressional Black Caucus; I do understand I may not be able to become a full member, but that's another issue - why I would want to be a member is what you need to understand).
Too many Democrats have now become a DLC, Blueblood, pro-corporate, triangulating shill where their votes in Congress (the THING THAT MATTERS MOST) reflect more of a "someone else paid me more money to vote the other way" scenario than of campaign promises or previous commitments that no longer for some reason matter. Too many people in Congress, left and right, Representative and Senator, have now become more worried about the next re-election than the next vote regarding the need of consitance consideration of rational in the reasoning for that particalar vote. You the voter need to appreciate it when an elected politician does that, voting for what is right as oppposed to what is be for his/her relections chances, in a consistent way based on they what ran on. I am trying to get on the Democratic ballot even though I have not voted for the Democratic candidate for President in three of the past four elections (I apologize in advance for voting for Kerry, John F., in 2004 - Gore already 'won', per previously annouched voting exit polls in Illinois by the time I voted in 2000; I knew Obama would will Illinois in 2008 and 2012; I voted for Clinton in 1994, but not in 1998 - and I am NOT am member of Camp Hillary). Rest assured, although I have never for Republican for the Presidency, I want what is best for this Country, not my Party: should my party propose a bought-and-sold shill - third party for me.
What you may say on any given topic - how you actually vote - are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. Saying you are for a smaller federal government, and then voting for measures that allow the federal government dictate who you marry or mandate that you should you carry a baby to term or that some products or services you can utilize, those that combine a mandatory minimum that then conflicts with the concept of Supply meeting a Demand (the war on some drugs used by some people). One elicits a freedom of choice, association, thought, the other mandates the full force of the government on to what you can do. The Constitution does allow for Congress to regulate the free market, one should hope it mandates a floor where that you cannot unfairly complete below and a ceiling that you soar above, competition on an even playing field; anything else is allowing special interests (read: campaign contributions) to be challenged as unduly influencing your vote.
I wrote something in 2006, nothing much has changed. I am trying to get into Congress to affect a change for the better. I originally wanted to be a "wrench" to attempt to put a stop to a previous Speakers "hammer" tendencies to get things thru, but throwing a wrench in the works is not the same as being in a party to that has tried to block EVERYTHING this administration has attempted, both good and bad. It has done even less than the "do-nothing Congress" of 1947 (by this time in that term that House had passed 200 some-odd bills, THIS Congress has passed 31 - yet voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act more times than bills that actually had a chance of becoming law). I will be the first to confront this President on principal (closing Gitmo v. condoning drone strikes; failing to indict persons and corporations on Wall St or the run up to the 2nd Gulf War v. failing to failing to yield to those who yell loudly about BBengghhhaaaaazzzzi; yelling about any "non-profit" be becoming a "401-c3" when no political concern, left OR right, should be given that consideration. Whistle-blower protection means protecting the whistle-blower, not protecting the institution that what reported about. I WILL put labor before management. Money IS NOT SPEACH. Corporations ARE NOT PEOPLE. The national debt (and also too each yearly deficit) needs to be addressed by both spending cuts and tax increases. Less of the former. More of the latter. Period. End of story (Social Security and the continuing operations of the Post Office impart NO impact on the deficit or the debt or ANY rational way someone would propose to incorporates them).
How you vote in the primary is one thing, it is your choice. In Illinois you may choose, upon arrival to the polls, a "Democratic" or "Republican" or "Independent/Non-Partisan" ballot in the upcoming Primary Election this upcoming March 18th. And on each one, there will be one or more people to vote for, for many different races, but only if those people you may have wished to vote for, got on the ballot in the first place, to give you that choice. I, or any other running for any other race, needs your assistance. Any help that you can provide to me or any others WILL BE APPRECIATED. I will not accept any campaign contributions, but if you can’t provide the time or effort, money can be contributed to the Democrats and Independents For the Fourteenth, the McHenry County Dems, the Lake County Dems, the Kane County Dems, the Kendall Dems, the DeKalb Dems, the DuPage Dems, and of course, the Will County Dems. Should I not win the primary, they still can still have the wherewithal to help in the general. Putting me down on the “Notes” line would be appreciated, but not necessary. No coordination between any of these groups and my candidacy will be allowed or tolerated. But any assistance will be appreciated by all.
